Elections Commission member petitions against president’s decision

A member of the Elections Commission has filed a fundamental rights petition seeking an order declaring the President’s dissolution of the parliament is unconstitutional, states Ada Derana reporter.

Accordingly, Prof. S. Rathnajeevan H. Hoole has filed the petition at the Supreme Court today (12).

Prof. Hoole is a member of the Elections Commission along with Mahinda Deshapriya, the Chairman of the Elections Commission, and N. J. Abeysekara.

Meanwhile, 12 fundamental rights petitions have been filed at the Supreme Court stated that the President’s order to dissolve the parliament is illegal.

The said petitions will be considered today under Chief justice Nalin Perera and two other Supreme Court judges.
