Signs of yet another possible disaster caused by the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development Project was reported to News 1st from the village of Ambadandegama, Bandarawela.
The source of the Kirindi Oya is located in Ambadandegama, close to where the main tunnel of the Uma Oya Multipurpose Development Project is being constructed.
Locals in the area charge that the project has caused the Kirindi Oya to dry up over the years.
They add that it is now simply a small stream of water which is being sucked into the earth.
Galahagama, a village adjoining Ambadandegama, experienced massive cracks on the earth.
