MP Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thera says it is his own decision to act independently in parliament, and is not a strategic idea of President Maithripala Sirisenaas claimed by some.
The parliamentarian was giving an interview to ‘Sri Lanka Mirror’.
In the interview, he said that for the first time in Sri Lanka’s history, 5,000 tons of chemical free organic fertilizer was produced through the ‘toxin free nation’ project.
Rathana Thera also said that he would consider whether he can make a more positive impact on the country by resigning from his parliamentary seat or staying in Parliament. What matters is which way is more fruitful to take the government in the correct path.
He stressed that the President, in his manifesto, had given an assurance that no constitutional amendment that would require a mandate at a referendum would be introduced.
He also described minister Rajitha Senaratne as a courageous politician.
