All 26 coronavirus cases confirmed yesterday are navy men – Army Chief


All 26 new COVID-19 infections identified on Wednesday (13) have been reported from the Navy Base in Welisara, Commander of Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva has stated.

Accordingly, 480 from Sri Lanka Navy have tested positive for COVID-19 so far.

As of Wednesday, 62 of naval personnel who were identified as coronavirus-positive had recovered from the disease.

Sri Lanka’s total count of COVID-19 infections surpassed the 900-mark on Wednesday (13) as 22 more persons tested positive for the virus as of 11.45 pm.

On that account, the number of positive coronavirus cases confirmed in the country to date reached 915.

The recoveries from coronavirus have increased to 382 while the death toll stands at 09.

The Epidemiology Unit says 524 active cases continue to be under medical care at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Base Hospital in Welikanda, Colombo East Base Hospital, Iranawila Hospital, Base Hospital in Kattankudy, Navy Hospital and Base Hospital in Homagama.
